Fawzia Koofi, the leader of the Movement for Change party and a former member of the Afghan Parliament, is scheduled to deliver a speech at the annual Nobel Peace Summit.

The Nobel Peace Center announced in a newsletter on Wednesday, May 8, that the summit will take place on September 5th of the current year, with Fawzia Koofi from Afghanistan set to address the audience.

The recipients of the Nobel Prize, experts, decision-makers, and activists will come together to discuss challenges and explore solutions.

The institution’s newsletter also highlights that the summit will shed light on the dangerous setbacks to women’s rights worldwide and will examine the best practices to address them.

Fawzia Koofi, a seasoned politician and women’s rights activist in Afghanistan, received the Human Rights Award from the Spanish Bar Association in 2022 and was recognized by the American magazine Fortune as one of the fifty great world leaders.

Ms. Koofi will speak at the annual Nobel Peace Summit, amidst a backdrop of over two years during which women and girls in Afghanistan have faced significant restrictions following the collapse of the republic and the rise of the Taliban, leaving them deprived of their fundamental rights such as the right to education and employment.
