The Supreme Court of the Taliban group has reported that a woman and two men were publicly lashed in Faryab province on charges of extramarital relationships and fleeing from home.

This court, on Sunday, March 31, through a newsletter, stated that based on the verdict of the city’s lower court and the district’s lower court in Dawlat Abad district, Faryab, a man accused of extramarital relationships and aiding a woman’s escape received 39 lashes and was sentenced to two years and six months of imprisonment.

Two other individuals, including a man and a woman, were also sentenced to 30 lashes and one year of imprisonment for the same charges of extramarital relationships and fleeing from home.

Today, the Supreme Court of the Taliban group also publicly flogged six individuals in Khost province on charges of fraud.

Since regaining control of the country, the Taliban group has publicly flogged several citizens.

While public flogging is considered an insult to the dignity of individuals, tarnishing their status and honour, it carries undesirable consequences.
