GHAZNI, Jan 9 (Afghanistan Women’s News Agency) – Following the inappropriate behavior of the Taliban towards women and girls in Ghazni, some young women have expressed that they are unable to venture out of their residences in recent days.

Samira is a 23-year-old woman, who owns a shop in the Jaghori district, Ghazni province. She tells the Afghanistan Women’s News Agency that the Taliban have been harassing and tormenting girls in this district in the past few days under the pretext of not observing the hijab.

She also adds that she has witnessed several inappropriate actions by the Taliban towards girls and women. According to Samira, the Taliban occasionally even enter their shops and insult and humiliate women and girls under various pretexts.

Recently, images have also circulated on social media depicting the Taliban harassing and tormenting girls in western Kabul, with some of them being transferred to detention centers under the vague accusation of not observing the hijab. This action by the Taliban has faced a multitude of anger and criticism from citizens and women’s rights advocacy groups.
