    The US Department of State has stated in its annual report on the human rights situation in Afghanistan that 16 women out of 90 female prisoners in Samangan, Jowzjan, and Faryab in northern Afghanistan have become pregnant after being sexually assaulted by the Taliban, with at least 4 women reportedly executed by the Taliban in Samangan province after repeated assaults.
